St Nicholas Church, HalewoodFeatures |
St.Nicholas is in the centre of an expanding urban area with new homes being completed daily. The church has seen the need to be part of this expansion and has purchased an ex-children's home adjacent to the Church which is now a thriving Community Centre.
We have now turned our attention to the church building itself and in partnership with our Architect we are over 70% of the way to complete our overall Development Project. This includes the restoration of our William Morris windows, providing a much needed toilet, better access and a secure crèche and meet and greet area. Further developments will include the refurbishment of our Henry Willis Organ, new environmentally friendly heating system, new pews, flooring and decoration.
The Development team have already raised over £230,000.00 towards the total project costs. We are restoring our fine Church to it's former glory and this includes better access and facilities for the present and future generations of Halewood and the wider Community.
The project is divided into six phases as follows:
1: Eradicate the dry rot within the church and make the fabric watertight.
2: Repair and re-order the church to include toilet facilities and better access for the disabled.
3: Restore and protect our William Morris/Byrne Jones stained glass windows.
4: Re-hang our existing bells in a new custom-built frame to preserve both bells and bell tower.
5: To improve the access around the church and grave yard to allow the full benefit of the tranquil surroundings to be enjoyed by all
6: On completion of our project we will maintain both church and grounds for general public access.
Our church family have shown in the past that they can and will support the projects that we have taken on board but we do need outside help.
